I’ve been researching ways candle brands can improve their online sales, and one thing that keeps coming up is packaging. Since customers can’t smell or touch a candle before buying it online, the packaging becomes a huge part of the product experience.

From what I’ve observed, good candle packaging helps in several ways:

Creates a strong first impression through attractive branding and design.

Protects candles during shipping, especially glass jar candles that can break easily.

Increases perceived value, making customers feel they’re buying a premium product.

Encourages social sharing because people love posting aesthetically packaged products on Instagram, TikTok, and Pinterest.

Builds brand recognition with consistent colors, logos, and packaging styles.

Features I Think Matter Most

Durable cardboard or rigid materials

Custom printing with brand colors

Eco-friendly packaging options

Foil stamping or embossing for a premium look

Custom inserts to hold candle jars securely

Window cut-outs for product visibility

A Packaging Resource I Found Helpful

While looking for examples, I came across Expert Custom Boxes. Their Custom Printed Candle Boxes section shows different packaging styles for scented candles, soy candles, luxury candles, and gift candle sets.

What I liked is that they offer multiple customization options, including finishes, inserts, and eco-friendly materials, which seem useful for both small and growing candle brands.

Question for Other Sellers

For those who sell candles online, what has made the biggest difference in your sales: better packaging, better photography, or better branding? I’m curious to know which factor has had the strongest impact on conversions.
